The idea of this project makes me very uncomfortable... I cannot comment on your actual work programs, I don't think there is enough information about program evaluation or how you track progress on your website to make a call there. (yes, testimonials and letters are nice, but where are the meat and potatoes of evaluation? What has worked well, why? What projects have failed? why? what have you learned? What do you use to measure progress?)
I will say that I believe portraying children as charity cases for western families to select based on subjective criteria makes me feel uncomfortable. Yes it is hard to get support for projects, especially during these economic times. But is it not important to look deeper into how we portray the people we serve? I know the family I lived with in Zambia wouldn't be comfortable with this.
Is it the first priority of your organization to "serve donors and sponsors" or serve your stakeholders overseas? I've seen situations where the two pull in opposite directions..., it is not always the case that helping donors will help the most important people in these projects: the people on the ground who we "aim" to serve. Until there is more information available on your website about the evaluation of your programs, outside of these testimonials, and some more information about how you believe this data base will help provide better service to children I cannot vote.
Sorry.
