  1. Run To End Poverty

    Run to End Poverty - Non-Profit - www.runtoendpoverty.ca

Run To End Poverty (R2EP) is a team of compassionate runners united for a common cause – to bring an end to extreme poverty in Africa. Since 2007, hundreds of runners across Canada and Africa have run together to raise awareness about extreme poverty, and to build support for Engineers Without Borders’ (EWB) innovative development efforts in Africa.

Each R2EP running event is partnered with a run in developing communities in Ghana, Malawi, Zambia and Burkina Faso, where EWB and African partner organizations are working hard to build local capacity and create positive change. Through this connection, we hope to breakdown stereotypes of poverty and change perceptions of the benefits of development by sharing stories of the skillful, optimistic, and entrepreneurial Africans who create opportunity in their communities.

Run To End Poverty would like Free Range to help us spread this unique project to a wider audience by building a rich website experience and marketing strategy that will attract thousands of runners and scores of supporters in 2011 and beyond. We hope to incorporate innovative blogging and social networking capabilities to directly connect Canadian runners and supporters with runners and development partners in several African communities.

  2. The Kiva of Fair Trade

    The Hoop Fund - Profit - www.jointhehoop.com

Free Range does an excellent job telling stories, and we have a story that needs to be told. We believe that everything in life is better when life is rich with meaningful connections. By deepening the relationship between consumers and producers through lending and buying; between ourselves and the craftsmen, artisans and farmers who make the products we buy & we believe we're not just bettering their worlds, but our own too. To tell this story and to motivate people to become engaged in their own supply chain we need a story and design that speaks to people, and Free Range would make this all possible.

  3. Indigenous Culture Runs Strong in the Canyons

    Norawas de Raramuri - Non-Profit - www.norawas.com

These three languages, Raramuri, Spanish and English, here express the basis and purpose of Norawas, a nonprofit organization working on behalf of the indigenous Running-People of Mexico's Copper Canyon region. All three express our commitment to friendship and suggest the important alliance and reciprocity of these neighboring cultures.

Based in the USA, Norawas de Raramuri works to support and reinvigorate an ancient and unique running culture that has endured, under increasing stress, from long before the arrival of Europeans in Central America. Participation in this multicultural friendship now extends around the world.

We support international and local races based in the region's Urique and Batopilas Canyons and related programs created to celebrate and encourage Raramuri running. Norawas works to provide maize, seed corn, and cash awards for participating Raramuri runners, men and women alike. In this way we offer both nutrition during drought and support for a tradition of small farms necessary to both physical and cultural survival.

Free Range Studios could help us get and keep our message in front of our 2,000+ supporters.

  4. Sales and Funding Blitz for Sri Lankan Heirloom Rice

Rural Returns (Guarantee) Limited (Sri Lanka) and - Non-Profit - www.ruralreturns.org

By proving and driving the market for exotic Sri Lankan heirloom rice varietals, we are helping rural Sri Lankan smallholder farmers escape a poverty trap that even affects the few farmers who could otherwise grow modern paddy varieties profitably.

Driving the initial sales of our tasty, aromatic, colorful and nutritious heirloom rices, mostly red rices, is a make-or-break priority to prove that our model can help farmers break out of poverty and that we can harness market forces to create a fair and sustainable industry. Raising enough funds to reach self-sustaining sales levels is the other side of the coin.
