Our vision is to create a vibrant mutually cooperative community of two million committed participants who are using their land, labor, capital and votes to create the world they want to live in and leave for their children. With help from Free Range, we will create an interactive online tool that encourages people to be part of this movement to take on the big guys. It will provide an opportunity for people to work together to transform trade, and join us in standing up and saying, "This is not what we want!" to corporate agriculture, economic and social injustice.

While traveling with EE employees to Nicaragua we were told they had been sent there as part of their employment to "meet the people we are working for." EE has no stockholders nor wallowing corporate chiefs ...Justice not charity.

This is a great organization. One that has done more to lift people out of poverty than some of our larger mainstream charities. They walk the walk in terms of administration and governance. A great place to invest this grant.

I have participated in a human rights tour to coffee country in Chiapas that involved the participation of Equal Exchange staff and have visited their plant and offices in Massachusetts. In addition, I've published an academic article on fair trade in coffee that included interviews with key officials at Equal Exchange.
They represent the highest standards of social responsibility in both their work around the globe with coffee-producing communities organized as democratic enterprises channeling income back into all segments of the community, and socially responsible enterprise here in the U.S. As a non-profit cooperative owned by their workers, they are able to harness the enthusiasm and idealism of their employees in building economic and social sustainability across the North/South divide.They deserve any recognition available for their work.
