Outsourcing the Problem: Consumption, Climate and China
Public Interest Research Centre - Non-Profit - www.pirc.info
Help us reveal an untold scandal: how the West exports carbon emissions to countries like China - expecting them to pay for the impact of our consumption. We need an engaging animation to explain the problem - for which we'll provide research, a voiceover from George Monbiot, and promotion from ChinaDialogue. The animation will inform the public, inspire campaigners and give us a tool to lobby government to take responsibility.

This is a huge and under-reported issue which deserves to be highlighted far more widely in clear and simple terms.
George Monbiot is one of the great environmental thinkers of our time and PIRC have a track record of producing rigorous and innovative reports which help to set the agenda and reframe old arguments in new ways that change minds and shift what is possible.

This is great project. Climate change is the most important challenge we face. If we don't fix this nothing else matters. But in order to do this we must fully understand all the complexities. That's why this project is important.

This is extremely important . I strongly support this. Successive UK governments have been obsessed with Kyoto Protocol and NI 186 which do not take into consideration consumption emission figures and the export of emissions to China. Fully one third of China's greenhouse gas emissions are attributable to exports.
An animation would help to communicate the importance of all this.

Its not only the export of CO2 that happens, its also the export of slave labour and also other pollution, so this project will start to make obvious the degree to which our consumerism affects the world.

It's right, it isn't known well enough - and the Story of Stuff is very effective so this would be good
