Outsourcing the Problem: Consumption, Climate and China
Public Interest Research Centre - Non-Profit - www.pirc.info
Help us reveal an untold scandal: how the West exports carbon emissions to countries like China - expecting them to pay for the impact of our consumption. We need an engaging animation to explain the problem - for which we'll provide research, a voiceover from George Monbiot, and promotion from ChinaDialogue. The animation will inform the public, inspire campaigners and give us a tool to lobby government to take responsibility.

We need a true picture of emissions due to UK activities. Discounting the 'exported' use of fossil fuels - resulting in pollution elsewhere - amounts to a fudge.

I believe that with PIRC this funding would be well spent in exposing the carbon trade off fiasco. I am a big fan of PIRC's work.

Yay, a good idea and something people need some genuine understanding of, rather than muttering about coal-fired power stations and one-child policies...

Absolutely vital - and such a good tool for communicating. PIRC's other work is so clear, this combination should prove untoppable.

Pirc's report on offshore wind was brilliant. It would be great to see what they come up with on the subject of the West exporting carbon emissions to China.

give it to the PIRC

When we in the West are expected to be leaders in reducing our carbon emissions, the fact that such covert agreements are being made in our name is not acceptable and need to be made known. The PIRC are gifted at making the complex arguments of climate science and climate change simple to understand and are a worthy group to take on this task, together with Monbiot. Let's see this animation get made.
