Dodging Pollution: An Underdog Story
Earthjustice - Non-Profit - www.earthjustice.org
Some of the worst air polluters have dodged controls for decades, pumping dirty air that makes playing outside a dangerous game for kids across the U.S. Though 2011 brings unprecedented opportunities to clean up these polluters, only public pressure can counteract the polluter lobby's influence. A humorous video can help: in a dodgeball game between kids and pollution, large men dressed as mercury, soot, and other pollutants hurl dodgeballs labeled with diseases (e.g. asthma ) while kids counter with balls marked "health" and "clean air". The message: join the kids' team to ensure dirty industries don't dodge clean air rules again.

Money pushes the economy in one way or another. As much as a new President enters into the hallowed halls of leadership, he/she is overcome by THE MACHINE, which has been in effect year after year. The good intentions a new president has rapidly gets changed. It's sad, but true, and that is what has happened to Obama. I don't believe this TEA Party is the answer, but at least it's something. We need moderates to step in and do what is right to protect the environment, wildlife, and our American people. These moderates would have to withstand all the organized crime and corruption that has eroded Washington, be ready to stand up to those behind the scenes who could cause serious problems to their families, and take this country back before it's too late. America should reinstate itself as the strongest nation on this planet, but we cannot do it with what is going on now and THE MACHINE running who will become president and every other key position that makes a difference in the average Joe's life.

It isn't coal, oil or gas,nor corrupt and dishonorable politicians that are the problem! WE are the problem! At every turn and opportunity WE,the citizens and voters have failed to reign in these industries and the politicos that are in place to regulate and oversee. Our complacent and apathetic attitudes combined with our failure to get to the polls and exercise OUR POWER have caused this mess! We have exactly what we deserve.........WE are the problem........WE are the solution!

As I remember cleaner air legislation became a reality in the seventies, In these times auto, and energy producers are realizing record profits for their shareholders. Time for Penalties and retro-active fines for lobbyists/politicians that enabled this legacy.

Stopping polluters has a high priority in my life's experience. My oldest granddaughter ( in her late twenties) has suffered from asthma problems all of her life. In the 1950's we witnessed the smoggy air in southern California. In the 1960's we did a derisive snort when San Fransisco had a higher smog reading than LA. We were appalled at the smog blanket over Grand Canyon caused by the power plant in Laughin, NV. It was good to see that plant shutdown.

I have asthma. For me clean air means I can continue breathing. It's as simple as that. Breathe in, breathe out. It's a very short and direct connection between breathing and living.
I need clean fresh air, we all do. It's as simple as that. -
