The Cruelty Behind the Cuteness
The Humane Society of the United States - Non-Profit - www.humanesociety.org
Free Range can help reduce suffering and create meaningful social change for animals by creating a movie to educate youth (target age range 13-18) about the inherent cruelty in mass dog breeding operations commonly known as puppy mills. Millions of puppies are born in shockingly poor conditions each year, many with behavior and/or health problems. Many people don't realize they're supporting this cruelty when they purchase a puppy in a pet store, over the Internet, or through a classified ad. By raising awareness, we can help stop a cycle of cruelty that contributes to pet overpopulation and the suffering of countless dogs.

Cruelty to animals is such a terrible thing. Animals don't do anything but bring happiness to peoples lives. Always love animals, be nice and loving to them, not hateful and mean. "Do on to others as you would have them do on to you," that's how I feel about humans to animals too.

I bought 2 of my 3 dogs 4 years ago before I had ever even heard of a puppy mill and was completely clueless about the horrible things these poor animals endure. I was told by PETLAND (of course) that they came from a local breeder. My 3rd was a rescue and all from here on out always will be as well. It truly is just about education and letting people know the reality of where a pet comes from. I adore all of my dogs and wouldn't trade them for the world, but had I know about puppy mills back then, you can bet I wouldn't have bought one. But now I know, and hopefully now more people know too. Thanks for what you do.

Breeding is disgusting. there are soooooo many animals that need homes. People act like having a "pedigree" pet is the best. It is actually bad for the breed itself. Dogs are becoming so inbred that it is causing reoccurring problems in the breed itself. Save a lives and adopt a pet.

Anyone who breeds their dogs/cats knowing millions die in shelters every year is heartless in my book. Adopt/spay/neuter and save lives. Never buy while others die. Thank you!

I WATCH ANIMAL COP ON ANIMAL PLANET AND SOME TIME WHEN THE HAVE TO GO TO THE PUPPY MILL AND THEY SHOW HOW CRAPED AND NASTY I CRIED AND SOMETIMES I CANT EVEN WATCH IT. I AM SO TIRED OF PEOPLE TREATING ANIMAL LIKE THEIR NOTHING ESPECIALLY THE DOG FIGHTING RINGS THAT GOING ON. WE ALL NOW THE BACK GROUND HISTORY ON PIT BULL YES THATS WHAT THEY WERE BREAD FOR BACK AS 50A.D. IT WASN'T THEN AND IT ISN'T NOW I CANT STAND TO SEE ANIMAL HURT. LAST SUMMER TWO BLUE BIRDS WAS KNOCKED OUT OF THE TREE BY A CAT BUT ONE DIED BEFORE ANYONE COULD COME GET IT AND THEN I TRUELLY SAVED THE OTHER BIRD. AND THIS SUMMER I SAVE A CATS LIFE, IT WAS SOMEONE CAT BUT DIDNT HAVE A COLLAR SO I CALLED SPCA THE PROBLEM WITH THE CAT WAS SOMEONE DROVE ON THE CAT IT COULD NOT WALK ON IT BACK LEGS. IT WAS UNDER MY PORCH FOR THREE DAYS AND I BRIVED IT TO COM OUT WITH FOOD AND IT DID. SO I AM VERY BEHIND ON THE THE ANIMAL CRUELTY RIGHTS.

Please stop using puppies as a commodity and know that they are sentient creatures that need to be treated with kindness and respect. There are also too many homeless pets out there to keep breeding them for profit.

I think that this is a sad situation for all the animals involved. All animals deserve to be treated good and not just for a dollar sign to animal mills. Save a life adopt a homeless pet!

I am totally in agreement with this. I see puppies in petstores in little aquarium type displays, I think strong laws should be made and inforced fully to shut down puppy mills and rescue these poor dogs from lives of misery caused by greedy uncaring money grubbers.

Greed destroys lives....... the owners of these mills should have to spend one day in their own cages! PROTEST: Adopt from shelters!

The mills must be stopped. This is so sad to see puppies and kittens from them. I would like to add, try adopting a dog from a shelter. We have two and they are great dogs. Dont buy from pet stores, this helps fund the mills.
