Free Range will help us create a better world by developing an innovative online campaign that includes a landing page, donation buttons, widgets and search engine advertising. We beleive these elements will can help ramp up our efforts to secure matching gifts for a challenge grant that will fund a first ever toll free help line for parents with kids in trouble with drugs and alcohol. The help line will serve those who wish to speak directly with a trained professional for one-on-one guidance, including the 26% of American adults without easy access to the Internet. Help line staff will identify counseling and treatment options and local resources and offer support during recovery or relapse. More than 3.5 million teens under 19 years old are in need of substance abuse treatment, according to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health. When people 25 and under are included, there are about 9 million teens and young adults who need treatment. Only 10% of these 9 million receive professional help. There currently is no national toll-free help line where parents can speak to an expert to help a child with a substance problem. The help line will complement our online parents resource center at drugree.org adn round out our avenue of communications to and for parents of teen and young adults.
