Outsourcing the Problem: Consumption, Climate and China

Public Interest Research Centre - Non-Profit - www.pirc.info

Help us reveal an untold scandal: how the West exports carbon emissions to countries like China - expecting them to pay for the impact of our consumption. We need an engaging animation to explain the problem - for which we'll provide research, a voiceover from George Monbiot, and promotion from ChinaDialogue. The animation will inform the public, inspire campaigners and give us a tool to lobby government to take responsibility.

It's a big issue, and our politicians get away with murder.

Really hoping that PIRC manages to get this project funded. There is a great deal of misinformation and misunderstanding in regards our carbon footprints, embedded emissions and exactly how our consumption in the UK drives climate change. Please vote for this project, tweet, etc.

This the elephant in the corner that we should all be confronting. But it requires a communication vehicle that can convey a simple idea that is often lost in technical detail, in a compelling and intuitive way: it lends itself perfectly to communication through animation.

We need to understand and expose the mechanisms by which we are deluding ourselves if we are ever to become a sustainable presence on this planet.

Very interesting topic - hope it will balance its arguments with the fact that the Chinese market place is a billion people in its own right!

Greater honesty in how we conduct international affairs will be essential if we are to achieve a genuinely sustainable future. Good luck!

If its true, get it out there and lets find better ways to sort this out.
