This has been used as a demonstration project for other locales. In that way, it functions as a model that could be used world wide.

The Santa Fe Alliance is a national leader in rebuilding local and regional food systems, and building strong local economies. This work is a model for many other communities.

does this mean that all of the food from this program is pesticide/gmo free and the workers/picker get paid a decent wage and get benifits or is it a political media stunt that's gonna peter out and be forgotten in a year or two?

You make social change if you don't have enough to eat!

It's great when friends give me food from their gardens. And, there's a lot of that going on this time of year. Going to a restaurant and seeing the card that they are in the Farm to Restaurant program gives me a similar feeling. I feel good about the food I buy, eat and share knowing it is good and that I'm supporting the local producers and restaurants.
